Publishizer Campaign Ends
I am excited to share that my Publishizer Campaign has now come to a close. Here is what we accomplished together:
5 Lessons Learned:
(1) There are people who love and support you, they are just waiting for you to ask for their support.
Some people who preordered my book support me in everything that I do. They are my blood relatives. They are my classmates (representing high school and college). They are my friends. They are my sorority sisters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
I am eternally grateful for these folks who show up for me and with me time and time again. What has been very beautiful is seeing unexpected names like some of my coworkers, my boss and even people I only know because we’re connected on social media but have never met in person. This campaign is a beautiful reminder that people are rooting for you. I will never forget this support and look forward to acknowledging everyone who supported me by preordering this book and investing in my dream.
(2) Opportunity is available when you push past your fear.
Launching this campaign has been one of the scariest leaps that I’ve taken in a while. I was so afraid of failure. This has literally been a lifelong dream that I’ve had since I was at least 12 years old. I am excited to share that I will now have access to three more publishers that I had when I started this. On the other side of my fear was opportunity, I just had to move through my fear and not allow it to paralyze me.
(3) Listen to feedback and suggestions.
I received some great advice and suggestions throughout this campaign including to record an audiobook, to prepare to host a reading in another city, and to consider hosting in person workshops related to the book. All of these ideas came from people who preordered the book. There are people who have ideas that can dramatically improve or amplify what you are doing, they just need the space and opportunity to share.
(4) Do your part.
I devoted about 6 months to writing the book and then another 2 or so months in researching and preparing for the Publishizer Crowdfunding Campaign. This work was created and I was the only one who could do it in order to take these steps towards realizing my dream.
(5) Once you figure out who you want to be, show up as her.
I want to be a published author so I started behaving like a published author and soon enough, it will be so. Manifestation is a continuum. On one end of the spectrum is where you are, and the other end of the spectrum is where you want to be. Every action or choice that we make moves us closer to where we want to be until ultimately we get there. Manifestation really is that simple and this excersise in manifestating this published book was a great reminder of that.
Thank you to everyone who supported this campaign! I will keep you updated via email and can’t wait for you to get your physical book in your hands and to hear what resonates with and for you:
