Free Online Scholarship Workshops

As we collectively deal with the stress of COVID-19, I wanted to offer up something to the collective. I know that many parents have students at home and you may be seeking resources to keep your children active and to keep yourself calm. I will be compiling a bunch of resources this week and posting them here on my blog since I have so much experience as an educator. Bio here. I’ve also compiled a comprehensive list of resources for Parents and Professionals here.
For middle - college aged students, I am making myself available to edit essays. Please send the essays in either Word Doc or Google Doc format to donnie@workwithdonnie.com and I will offer feedback and check for spelling and grammatical errors. I will be working full-time during the day, but can edit essays in the evenings for at least the next 2 - 3 weeks. A special shout out to my friend Toni M. for offering free tutoring services & inspiring me to offer free educational support services during this time.
I am also going to offer up 2 free online Scholarship Workshops. This is a great time to conduct research and complete applications for Scholarships. I was able to fully fund my undergraduate degree (many moons ago) and have offered this workshop periodically since I graduated from college. Many of my workshop participants have been able to find extra money and in some cases fully fund their post-secondary educations. Here are the details about the Scholarship Workshops:
Scholarship Workshop Overview:
Donnie Nicole Belcher, a business consultant and former High School Teacher was able to fully fund her undergraduate education at DePaul University, solely on scholarships. Not only were her all of her expenses paid for, she was able to receive a “refund” each quarter due to having earned so many scholarships. After graduating from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, Donnie has been sharing her recipe with others and has helped countless others to receive free money for school.
Workshop Outcomes:
(1) Students will learn about underutilized sources to find scholarship money.
(2) Students will learn about scholarships opportunities beyond “merit” (GPA) or “athletic” (Sports) scholarships.
(3) Students will learn tips for how to write a winning application.
(4) Students will learn common application mistakes to avoid that could lead to their disqualification.
(5) Students will learn time management and organization tips to manage the application process.
(6) Many of the tips recommended will be applicable in other professional situations including employment, internship and fellowship applications.
Target Audience:
High School Students and students enrolled in Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree Programs and their parents and mentors. Low incomes students and students of color will receive special tips and resources.
Timeline:
The workshop will run 45 – 60 minutes, but we will reserve 90 minutes to ensure that we can answer all of the questions that may arise.
Cost:
This workshop usually costs $25.00 per person, but all fees will be waived! Registration is required for participation.
Please sign up for one of the sessions below. If the workshop fills up, I will schedule additional workshops. Each workshop will be the same, so please only sign up for one session.
